Polynucleotide Treatment in Surrey

Polynucleotides

The most advanced regenerative skin treatment available — injectable polynucleotides repair your skin at a cellular level, stimulating your own collagen and elastin for long-lasting, natural-looking rejuvenation.

What Are Polynucleotides and How Do They Work?

Polynucleotides (PNs) are injectable serums derived from highly purified salmon or trout DNA  molecules whose structure closely mirrors human DNA, making them exceptionally biocompatible. In aesthetic medicine, they are classified as biostimulators: rather than simply adding a substance to the skin, they communicate directly with your skin cells, triggering the body’s own regenerative processes.

When injected into the dermis, polynucleotides interact with fibroblast cells  the skin’s own collagen and elastin factories. By up-regulating fibroblast activity, PNs stimulate a sustained increase in collagen, elastin, and naturally produced hyaluronic acid. The result is genuine cellular repair and regeneration rather than a temporary volumising effect.

At Faceit by Ian in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, polynucleotide treatments are tailored to each client’s specific skin concerns  from wrinkle reduction and photoageing damage to under-eye crepiness, pore tightening, and stretch marks. Our practitioner uses ultra-fine mesotherapy needles or nano needles for the delicate under-eye area, minimising bruising and maximising comfort.

3 Core Ways Polynucleotides Regenerate Your Skin

Polynucleotide treatment works through three distinct and complementary biological mechanisms  each addressing a different aspect of skin ageing and damage.

Fibroblast Stimulation & Anti-Ageing

Polynucleotides directly stimulate fibroblast cells  the connective tissue producers  to generate increased collagen. This exerts a powerful anti-ageing effect, progressively reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and the visible signs of photoageing (sun damage) over the treatment course and beyond.

Collagen, Elastin & HA Upregulation

By signalling fibroblasts at a cellular level, PNs boost production of all three key structural skin proteins simultaneously  collagen for firmness, elastin for resilience and bounce, and naturally produced hyaluronic acid for internal hydration. The result is measurably improved skin density, texture, and tone.

Cellular Repair & Regeneration

Polynucleotides trigger the skin’s intrinsic DNA repair mechanisms, helping to undo damage caused by UV exposure, environmental stress, and natural ageing. They reduce oxidative stress at a cellular level, restore tissue homeostasis, and accelerate the regeneration of skin cells  producing a genuine and progressive improvement in skin health over time.

Polynucleotide Treatment Your Questions Answered

Polynucleotides are injectable serums derived from highly purified salmon or trout DNA. They work as biostimulators  actively signalling your skin’s fibroblast cells to produce more collagen, elastin, and naturally produced hyaluronic acid. This means they repair and regenerate skin at a cellular level, rather than simply adding a hydrating substance.

Skin boosters (like Profhilo or Seventy Hyal 2000) use hyaluronic acid to replenish hydration and, in the case of Profhilo, also stimulate some collagen production. The key differences are that polynucleotides go deeper into the regenerative mechanism, work on areas HA boosters cannot (like the forehead), and are better suited to clients whose primary concern is collagen and elastin decline rather than dehydration. Both are highly effective, and many clients benefit from combining them.

Polynucleotides contain animal-derived DNA from salmon or trout. They are not suitable for:

  • Vegans and vegetarians
  • Anyone with a fish allergy or seafood sensitivity
  • Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding

For all other clients, polynucleotides are among the most biocompatible injectable treatments available due to their natural DNA composition. Your practitioner at Faceit by Ian will confirm your suitability at consultation.

A course of 2–3 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. An early improvement is visible after the first session, with the collagen remodelling process accelerating significantly from the second session. The product continues its regenerative effects for up to 12 weeks after each treatment.

Results from a full course typically last 6–12 months. A single maintenance session every 6 months is recommended to sustain the collagen-stimulating benefits.

The treatment is generally well tolerated. Ultra-fine needles are used for facial and neck treatments, with topical anaesthetic cream available on request. For the under-eye area, Faceit by Ian uses a specialist nano needle technique specifically to minimise bruising and discomfort in this delicate zone.

There is no downtime. Mild redness, small injection-point marks, or slight swelling may be visible for 24–48 hours. Clients return to daily activities immediately after their appointment.

  • Skin Boosters (Profhilo / Seventy Hyal 2000) — combines PN’s regenerative action with deep HA hydration for comprehensive skin improvement
  • Microneedling — enhances PN penetration and amplifies collagen stimulation, particularly for scarring and enlarged pores
  • Chemical Peels — surface resurfacing combined with deep cellular
